How To Live With Mother’s Loss | Psychologist Advice
There came a moment when I felt I didn’t know how to survive my mother’s death, I needed the advice of a psychologist like air. For many, this awareness of the need for outside help does not arise immediately, but after a certain amount of time.
This phase came to me after six months of melancholy. It seems like it’s time to reconcile, but for some reason, it just got harder for me and I started gathering information to help me get out of depression:
Don’t be alone with your grief
Even if you want to shut yourself up at home and cry, look for someone you can talk to heart to heart. You are going through a difficult emotional period and it is normal to seek support from others. The other person may feel embarrassed to continue the conversation, fearing it will cause you additional suffering.
Do not require active dialogue. Your task is to speak, to share feelings of melancholy, memories. There is nothing embarrassing if you think you need the help of a professional psychologist.
Do not try to speed up the grieving process
Take the time to get your life back on track, give yourself enough time to accept the situation. Don’t compare yourself or listen to others compare how much someone should have grieved. Every situation and every person is different.
Keep the memory of your deceased mother
Yes, she is not there but she will remain in your heart. Write down fond memories of her, save her favorite little things, learn how to bake a cake according to her signature recipe. Collect stories related to her from her friends and acquaintances.
Take care of your physical well-being
Grief is very exhausting and leaves a mark on health. Allocate 7-8 hours for sleep, eat normally, at least occasionally engage in physically active activities.
Change your routine and hobbies
Find a new hobby, meet interesting people, visit unusual places in the city.
Remember, Mom didn’t want to hurt you by leaving
Imagine the emotions you would experience watching your child’s happiness! Live a fulfilled life as she is watching you from above!
